There is a prevalent vicious cycle of malnutrition in India, which mainly affects children. Due to lack of proper nutrition, many children are undernourished and face various health issues throughout their life. Under-nutrition detrimentally affects the health, survival, learning capacities and adult productivity.
To tackle this vicious cycle of malnutrition, Aurobindo Pharma Foundation (APF) collaborated with Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF) and built 4 full-fledged automated centralised kitchens in Narsingi (Hyderabad), Mahabubnagar, Srikakulam, and Kakinada. Together these 4 kitchens, under the management of HKMCF, are providing food to government school students through mid-day meal and breakfast meal programs, daily wage labours, farmers through Annapurna outlets of the Telangana State government, patient attendants at government hospitals and many more every day.
Furthermore, the Srikakulam kitchen fed many stranded laborers and workers during the COVID-19 lockdown, earning great appreciation from the people and government.
Overall, these kitchens have provided 13.18 crore meals to many poor and needy across the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
